This week I learned more about bridges and how I can integrate it into my site.

The bridge deck is the functional part of the bridge where people can walk on. These are usually made by pouring concrete with steel reinforcement on top of beams. The design should focus on slip resistant surfaces and minimal maintenance, with lifespan ranging from 30 to 60+ years

For any bridges over water, they must adhere to strict environmental, design and safety planning rules. The public should be able to directly access it, and there must be accessibility for disabled users.

For my bridge, I have incorporated seperate lanes for cyclists and pedestrians where the surface level is slightly different. The cyclists surface is on a lower level than the surface for pedestrians so that it allows for better flow of traffic as well as safety.

Bridges should have safe designs to prevent people from falling.
